Government Jobs :

Advantages- Government jobs are considered better from security point of view. Employees don’t have the fear of losing their jobs in case they don’t perform well because individual performance is not counted. Government employees enjoy the privilege of getting health care benefits, accommodation and pension after their retirement and even after their death their families enjoy the same benefit. Vacations and holidays are much more in Government sector. As compared to Private Jobs, Government jobs don’t put work pressure on the employees. If a candidate is looking for a job that provides job security, benefit after retirement and working environment without much pressure than Government job is calling you.

Disadvantages- There is no doubt it the fact that every coin has two sides. We have already discussed about Government Jobs’ advantages, now it’s time to discuss some harsh facts about Government jobs. In today’s world of money minded people it is a heartbreaking fact that in government sector employees have to face problems in terms of their salary. In short, working for Government sector is not good for your pocket. Since, individual performance is not counted promotion is out of question. Another disadvantage is red-tapism and bureaucracy. One has to wait for a long time for the work to be done including recruitment of candidates because of extravagant paperwork and tiresome procedures. If a candidate is in search of a job which is financially sound, gives performance appraisals and has fast recruitment procedure then Government job is not your cup of tea.

Private Jobs :

Advantages- Private jobs are more dynamic in nature as compared to Government jobs. Recruitment procedure of candidates is fast and dynamic. Private jobs provide more growth potential as promotions are given to employees who achieve target and are performing well. Jobs in private sector offer professional and fast paced work environment which serves as a motivational factor for employees. Last but not the least, here comes the most important attraction of Private jobs. Jobs in private sector give attractive and handsome salaries to employees. Private jobs are good for those job seekers who are looking for job that provides job satisfaction, attractive pay package, fast recruitment procedure and promotion.

Disadvantages- Now let us discuss the dark side of Private jobs. First and foremost disadvantage of private job is that it does not offer security of tenure. Employees are in fear of getting fired in case of poor performance, recession or bad economic position of the company. Private jobs offer handsome amount of pay packages while working but not after retirement. Absence of retirement scheme and healthcare benefits in private sector forces it to lag behind Government sector. Employees in private sector have to undergo pressure of achieving target which results into overtime and stress. Private jobs are not beneficial for those candidates who are looking for a job that provides job security, retirement scheme and congenial work environment.

Therefore, above were the advantages and disadvantages of Government Jobs and Private Jobs. Evert sector has positive and negative aspects. It is important for the job seekers to set their priorities and decide what their objectives are in order to decide which sector to choose for their career.
