About IBPS Exam:-
Institute of
Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) is a pioneering step in personnel selection
for Banking Sector. IBPS comprises of a team of specialists who have expertise
in Psychology, Information Technology, Banking and Insurance Industry and
Educational Measurement. Their collective efforts are providing human resource
management solutions from past many years. Previously, recruitment procedure of
candidates in banks were time taking. Introduction of Common Written
Examination (CWE) conducted by IBPS removed this hindrance and made recruitment
procedure more managed and less time consuming.
IBPS
conducts CWEs for many posts which includes Clerks and Probationary Officers /
Management Trainees. At present, 21 Public Sector Banks, 22 Co-operative Banks,
11 Private Banks, 8 Central Financial Institutions, 9 Insurance Companies, 23
Public / Private Sector Undertakings and 62 Regional Rural Banks are associated
with IBPS.
The first
Common Written Entrance (CWE) was conducted in September 2011 for the post of
Probationary Officer / Management Trainee and in November 2011 CWE was held for
the post of Clerk. Every year IBPS conducts one CWE for each of Probationary
Officer, Specialist Officer and Clerk.
Changing pattern of banking recruitment process :
Online CWE in 2012- The
first and foremost change in the banking recruitment process is that CWE
conducted in November 2012 for Clerical post was online. This was a step
towards effective use of technology for betterment of human resource
acquisition. No more use of paper benefitted the environment and made CWE more
organized.
Calculation of cutoffs at two stages- Previously, the sum total of the cutoffs of individual
sections were equal to the overall cutoff. Now, even if the candidate qualifies
the minimum cutoffs of individual section but, is unable to qualify the minimum
overall cutoff then he / she is not considered qualified.
Common Interviews- To
eliminate loopholes in the selection procedure IBPS started conducting Common
Interviews for candidates who qualified the CWEs. Candidates who qualified the
CWE PO II conducted in June 2012 were the first batch to face the Common
Interview. The candidates who qualify both CWE and Common Interview are given a
notification regarding sate wise and category wise vacancies for each bank
participating in the recruitment drive. After that candidates select their
order of preference for banks and then they are placed accordingly. However,
the concept of Common Interview is not applicable in the case of Regional Rural
Banks (RRBs). Candidates have to apply for each RRB when announced for the
recruitment.
In order to
validate the scores obtained by qualifying candidates IBPS issues score card
and gives the opportunity of enhancing the score in upcoming CWEs.
IBPS
provides a platform to the aspiring job seekers as well as to the banks that
are looking for talented and dynamic employees. Aspiring candidates who see
themselves as a part of the banking sector should utilize this opportunity and
work hard to build a marvelous career.
